Overview
Foredeckr ("we", "our", or "us") operates the web application at app.foredeckr.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the app.
Information We Collect
When you sign in and use Foredeckr, we collect:
- Your name and email address from your Google account (via Google Sign-In)
- Your RSVP responses to sailing events
- Boats you follow and coordinate
- Events you create or manage
Personal information (name, email) is encrypted at the application layer using AES-256-GCM before being stored in our database. It is never stored in plaintext.
How We Use Your Information
- To identify you and display your name to boat coordinators you sail with
- To record and display your RSVP status for events
- To send you event-related notifications (if enabled)
- To operate and improve the service
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
Visibility of Your Data
Your display name and RSVP status are visible to other members of boats you follow. Crew lists are not publicly accessible — they are only visible to authenticated users who belong to the same boat. There is no public directory of users or boats.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand general usage patterns. It does not use cookies and does not track you across websites or sessions. Data collected is aggregated and not linked to your identity.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
- Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
- Google OAuth — sign-in only; we do not access your Google data beyond your name and email
- Render — application hosting
- Umami — anonymous analytics
Data Retention and Deletion
Your account and associated data are retained as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from your profile page using the "Delete My Account" option. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Children's Privacy
Foredeckr is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
